ITS 15: New order

What awaits us in the new season of Infinity organized play?

We say peace when we really mean “ceasefire.” It’s not  the same. It may seem like it, but it is not. What was signed with The Ur Hegemony and its Combined Army was an armistice, not a peace treaty. And that is something we must not forget.

Not only is Interplanetario the largest Infinity event on the face of the Earth, it is also the finale of the ITS (Infinity Tournament System) competitive season. As every era ends, another begins therefore, the time has come to introduce ITS 15: A New Order!

We know that after experiencing this year’s Interplanetario, the desire to play Infinity has greatly increased as does the desire to know what the future season has in store for us. And even more so, since the seventh edition took four years to arrive, but before we delve into the changes in season 15, we must congratulate the winners of season 14.

CobraPrime, a player from the United States, won the Quantronic Crown and was proclaimed overall winner of ITS 14, as well as the winner of the United States Ranking.

In the Spanish Ranking, Pupnik was declared as the winner. And in the ranks from the rest of the world, Weran from Latvia took first place in addition to winning the VII Interplanetario.

Congratulations to these three players for their tremendous achievements!

That being said, let's find out what ITS 15: A New Order has in store for us.

Season 15 of ITS starts with 40 satellite tournaments. These large tournaments are held throughout the world, and they grant the winner a guaranteed spot in the next Interplanetario.

Satellite tournament

One of the great novelties during this season was the change of the current Classified Deck which became the Operations Deck. This new deck is actually made up of three decks. The first, is a review of the Classified Deck, with five new classified objectives and a review of the rest of the cards. The other two decks are the ones we will use in Resilience Operations. With the Tactical Objectives Deck, we will determine what our objectives will be during the game; and with the Battle Conditions deck, we will establish under what circumstances the conflict takes place. Our confrontation may be a clash in outer space, take place in the middle of a raging storm, or we may encounter hostile civilians in the area of ​​operations, by way of example.

The Resilience Operations extra will now allow us to enjoy Infinity in a different way than in the past with ITS missions.

Now that missions have been mentioned, we can say that in this season, the Rescue, Quadrant Control, and Cryogenics missions have been removed from the list to make way for three new scenarios: B-Pong, Evacuation, and Last Launch. Likewise, the Annihilation mission is no longer part of the mission grid, being relocated within the ITS Direct Action scenarios.

Likewise, during season 15 we will add two seasonal rules. We will have “The Prestige of O-12”, which will allow us once per Round to use one of our Command Tokens as if it were a Regulatory Order.

We can also benefit from “Border Skirmishes” to be able to deploy a Troop with a Special Skill with the Airborne Deployment Label, inside an Exclusion Zone.

In addition to the Resilience Operations extra which I mentioned previously, we will find two more extras. One of them is the ability to use Reinforcements during tournaments and the other is for Mercenary Contractors.

In the last season, we saw in some missions the possibility of adding a specific mercenary to our army lists. In ITS 15, those mission rules are gone and have become the Mercenary Contractors perk. A tournament with this extra will allow the player to choose a mercenary from a list and add him/her for free to our army list… but keep in mind that this troop will now occupy a spot on our list.

But let’s leave the extras aside for a moment and not lose sight of the fact that the new season is set at the time when quantum anomalies devastate Concilium Prime. We can find two new rules in some missions that will try to reflect this situation: QAZ Creatures and Quantum Anomaly Zones. These are lethal dangers from which we can attempt to draw a tactical advantage from or we can just accept the fact that the mere presence of these threats will cause troops to suffer.

I am sure that this new season will pose new challenges and, above all, hours of fun with our favorite wargame, Infinity.
