Want to set up your first Infinity tournament? You've come to the right place. This article will guide you through the steps you need to follow in order to register and create your own official tournament using the Infinity Tournament System (ITS).
Step 1: Get a Corvus ID
Before you begin, make sure you have a Corvus ID. This is your unique identifier for the Corvus Belli system. With it, you can access various services, including tournament organization.
If you don't have a Corvus ID yet, you can register for free on the official Corvus Belli website by following this link: Corvus ID registration. If you already have an account in the Army or have made purchases in the online store as a registered user, and so on, you probably already have a Corvus ID that you can use without the need of creating a new one.

It's a unified system for all brand applications that require a password. Among its tools are: the Army (for creating team lists for your matches), the forum, online store purchases, and most importantly... the organized play! Both to create tournaments and to take part in them, you'll need a Corvus ID, so let us tell you how to do it:
Step 2: Get a Tournament Code
In order to set up an official tournament, you need an ITS Code.
You can get it by purchasing a Tournament Pack or virtual tournament codes.
Thanks to it, your tournament can be registered through the Official Tournament Manager (OTM). This allows the game results to be reflected in the players' scores for the general Ranking tally.

The virtual code is a simple code that starts with a "V" and can be downloaded through the online store; the tournament pack is a product that includes a code to organize the tournament, which in this case starts with a "C." In addition to the code, the event pack includes an assortment of gifts for players.
We also have special codes for 2-player matches called Oneshot (with a code starting with an "O").

Step 3: Access the Official Tournament Manager (OTM)
Access the Official Tournament Manager (OTM) using your Corvus ID.
Once inside, you can see the virtual codes that you've downloaded in the bottom left corner of the page, since they're also downloaded on this page if bought as a logged-in user.

Step 4: Create your Tournament

Click on "New Event" on the right side of the screen to start creating your tournament. Fill in the required information:
- Enter the event code you acquired and want to use.
- Select the event type: tournament, league, or match.
- Assign a name to the event.
- Specify the start date of the event.
- Provide a brief description of the event you plan to hold.
If you want your event to be public and to be displayed on the community events calendar, make sure to tick the corresponding option (marked by default).
You can also decide whether the event will be by invitation only if it'll allow players to register freely, or if you'll subscribe them directly.
Complete the additional information about the event:
- Players
- Rounds
- Extras (ITS Rules)
- Description of each Round
- Mission or Scenario
- Date
Once you've filled in all this data, the event will be created.
After saving the event, you'll see this button:

Step 5: Invite and manage the participants
Once the event has been created, your task will be to manage the participants. You can send invitations to players, accept or reject those who have registered, and directly add players to the tournament if necessary, depending on your choices during the previous step.
Of course, the invited party must have a Corvus ID to take part (otherwise, they need to register as shown in step 1).
Once the registration is closed by the organizer, it's time to move on to the next step.
Let us remind you that registering or inviting a user doesn't automatically guarantee their subscription to the event. There must always be a confirmation from the recipient.
In the case where the organizer invites a player, an email is sent to the player for them to accept the invitation and, once accepted, they need to be confirmed by the event organizer as a participant. In case players subscribe, the organizer is responsible for accepting the players into the event.

There's a third option that allows the organizer to directly add the player to the event. This is the recommended option if the event is private.
Now all that's left is to wait and enjoy the Tournament!

Step 6: Log in the results
It's vital that you log in everything that happens during the event, so that the tournament is valid and the participants' results are updated in their corresponding profiles.
During the event, there might be many changes (participants who ultimately can't attend, mission date changes, and so on). Worry not! We've planned ahead. This is the magic button that allows the organizer to access the manager:
Tournament and Scenario Management
During the tournament's progress in the Official Tournament Manager (OTM), you'll find a clear structure that will allow you to keep tabs and make adjustments as needed.
View Participants and Matchmaking
Upon entering the OTM, on the left side of the screen, you'll see the list of participants registered in the tournament. On the right, you'll see the matchmaking between players for the corresponding rounds.

Round and Scenario Management
At the top, you'll find a tab for each of the tournament's rounds. Every tab will display the name of the scenario or mission that will be played out in that specific round. Additionally, there'll be an additional tab dedicated to the final ranking.
Flexibility for adjustments
As an organizer, you'll need flexibility to make adjustments during the tournament to guarantee an optimal flow:
- Add or remove players: If for any reason you need to add or remove players during the tournament, the OTM allows you to do so in order to maintain the integrity of the competition.
- Modify Rounds: In some circumstances, you might want to adjust the number of tournament rounds. For example, if the tournament is taking longer than expected, you can choose to eliminate a round to streamline it.

Managing special situations
During the tournament, it's possible that you may need to manage some special situations.
- Odd number of players: If you have an odd number of players in a round, you'll need to assign a "Bye" to one of the players. This means that the player gets a victory without playing in that round. This is done to prevent the Bye effect from harming the player, since it's considered a win and doesn't negatively affect them.
- Rests: If a player cannot participate in a round for any reason, you can assign them a "Rest." Even if the player doesn't play that round, their score won't be affected. It's important to note that the decision of how to handle these special situations always rests on the organizer. For example, should you consider it more appropriate, you can decide to count the match as a Loss instead of assigning a Rest.

Difference between Bye and Rest
Learning the the differences between these actions is key:
- Bye: Granted to a player in the case of an odd number of players in a round. The Bye is considered as a victory and doesn't affect the player's ranking (ELO).
- Rest: Assigned to a player who can't participate in a round. Although the player doesn't play, their score remains unaffected and so is their ranking.
ELO System
The ELO System is a scoring system based on statistical calculation, used to assess a player's relative skill levels and to determine the rankings in Infinity and Aristeia!
The ranking system (ELO) is updated daily during the early hours of the morning according to the results that have been logged in. This way, you can report user results daily during a tournament.
Managing a tournament through the Infinity Tournament System (ITS) gives you full control over the process. From determining the matchmaking to solving special situations, you're responsible for making the tournament run smoothly. Keep the integrity of the tournament by properly handling situations such as Byes and Rests. Enjoy the excitement of organizing and experiencing the tournament in the universe of Infinity: The Game!
