Ugarat is a planet of apex predators. Anyone might think that the Morat are that world’s true apex predator, and they certainly are, but this wasn’t always so. And if they are now, it’s only because they were able to survive the most colossal and brutal apex predators the galaxy has ever known. There’s practically no area of this planet that doesn’t have its own regional apex predator, and most of them fall into the MegaBeast category: massive creatures that are fiercely territorial and as dangerous as they are aggressive. In order to survive and thrive as a species, the Morat had to learn to deal with them, and to do so proactively, so each tribe had its own group of specialist hunters, a privileged class whose members had a fairly short life expectancy.
Out of sheer necessity, this caste survived the different Morat eras and societal changes, eventually becoming brotherhoods of hunters who drifted from place to place, going wherever they were needed, wherever a MegaBeast came too close to a populated area and proved to be a danger to its inhabitants. These brotherhoods constituted a society within their broader society, with its own traditions and rites, all of which were deeply animistic. These hunters regarded themselves as being in balance with Nature and a fundamental part of it. They never hunted on a massive scale, even if they had the means and opportunity to do so, as they considered the MegaBeasts to be an essential part of the ecosystem of Ugarat, as well as the incarnation of the ancient gods that had once reigned in their prehistory. For these hunters, those monsters exist to make the Morat race prove that it is still worthy of its place at the top of the food chain. However, despite the mystique, their profession is still a risky one, and many of these brotherhoods died out over time, usually in the gaping maw of the creatures they hunted. The few brotherhoods that survived the hazards of their job were able to adapt to modern times and have a broader reach, so they could make up for the absence of the brotherhoods that perished.
When the Supremacy spread across the stars, the Morat discovered other planets with their own MegaBeasts, so these brotherhoods became independent contractors for the Aggression Force as well as for the Morat corporations that were operating under its protection. Of all these brotherhoods, the Tyrok are among the most renowned, as they are one of the oldest societies as well as one of the smallest, since they are the most demanding on their members. The Tyrok know that hunting is not only about killing, but also about tracking and stalking your prey, knowing that the final outcome of the hunt is death and, even though they do not enjoy killing, they certainly have a knack for it. The prey, be it a Gurlanak, a Demarok, or any other MegaBeast, should always be respected, but never feared, because a Tyrok hunter will always be more dangerous and lethal than any animal. When they arrive in a town ravaged by one of these colossal monsters, the locals always tell the same story, that their land is cursed because a demon has come, and the Tyrok always give the same answer: “It is true, a demon has arrived. Watch us closely, for the demon is us.”

Being a law enforcement agency, SWORDFOR knows that the key to maintaining order and ensuring the protection of citizens and innocents is vigilance. Since Concilium Prima is a target of high strategic value, as well as the headquarters of Bureau Aegis, SWORDFOR is strongly committed to its security. To this end, it developed an “Eye in the Sky” type secret monitoring program, and its primary platform was the Raveneye Orbital Complex. However, such a special program required highly qualified personnel to both manage and protect it, the kind of expert staff that only Starmada could provide.
Raveneye Officers are the communications-monitoring technicians of the Raveneye Orbital Complex, even though their official job is to help manage Shimmering Sky, the nanotechnological terraforming system hovering in Concilium’s atmosphere. However the Raveneye Complex also serves as an air and ground traffic monitoring platform, a fact that is well known in military circles, and furthermore it features gun batteries for orbital and surface attack, which is known only to high-level intelligence officials. Although this is a joint endeavor of Bureau Aegis and the Concilium Planetary Defense Force, some members of this Starmada unit are believed to be on the payroll of Bureau Noir. A Raveneye Officer can tap into the orbital facility’s systems and thus control the remote monitoring devices and artillery batteries to unleash hell on any aircraft that tries to enter Concilium’s airspace. All Officers are outfitted with neural interfacing devices consisting of three elements: the interface helmet, where most systems are integrated; a lightweight backpack that contains both the suit’s battery and a cooling/heating, which can also be hand-carried for situations that require them to board an acceleration pod; and a data suit, which acts as a haptic support system for multitasking situations.
All Raveneye Officers are qualified communications and systems engineers who have also been trained in naval gunnery, and they have completed intensive tactical training for naval operations, particularly counter-boarding, so they are ready to join the crew of any battleship, be it with Starmada or with the allied fleet of the Concilium Coordinated Command. These naval officers’ operational profile attests that, even if being “Ever Vigilant” is their motto, they specialize in action, be it launching transorbital assaults or fighting deck by deck.
