The hunt for the MegaBeasts begins! The Hunters are here!

New members join the prospecting crews deployed in Khurland. But these miners are special and completely different from the rest of their colleagues: we are talking about the Hunters!

Background

In Khurland, the mining corporations had stumbled upon a totally unexpected problem, one that required the most expeditious solution possible. Furthermore, a problem of colossal proportions.

The gargantuan MegaBeasts posed a real threat to mining operations in Khurland. Not only because they endangered the lives of personnel, who can always be replaced, but also because these monsters were capable of destroying any facility they come across.

Therefore, to get rid of the problem, it was necessary to hunt them down and eradicate them before they could jeopardize production or the mining facilities. Hunting was an activity enjoying a new heyday thanks to the space race and the colonization of new planets. Besides being a professional career choice, it had also become a trendy pastime among the corporate jet-set. Executives could exhibit their killer instinct by hunting down other predators. There was no senior executive who hadn’t gone on a private safari to hunt a Cockatrickster on Paradiso or a Kythalos on Acontecimento, gigantic animals also considered to be MegaBeasts.

So, when the first reports of financial loss due to MegaBeasts reached the top corporate levels, the solution brought forth by their executives was to hire these experts to do what they did so well: put their lives on the line to wipe out these monsters.

A few days later, rugged, tough men and women began to show up in Port Sulaco, with their big, extravagant weapons, crooked smiles, and a gleam of anticipation in their eyes. Hunters had arrived in Khurland, and they were the solution to the MegaBeast problem.

Hunters are the latest addition to the battlefields of Infinity Deathmatch: TAG Raid. These specialists in hunting Megabeasts have a different profile and role in the game than the other miners. They have 3 characteristic traits that make them stand out in the game:

1. They have a harpoon that gives them high mobility. With it, they can cross the entire board by hooking themselves to a TAG, a Megabeast, or a shelter.
2. Each Hunter has a unique and powerful close combat weapon. If, when using the harpoon, they hook onto an enemy TAG or Megabeast, they will have 1 free action to perform a devastating attack. The weapon will "wear out", so your card will have to be flipped over but it can be reloaded again by going to a shelter. The shelter will be represented by a token anywhere on the game table and will be the place where your Hunter prepares for the next attack.
3. They can place a Decoy on a board tile that will draw the MegaBeast's attention. The Megabeast will automatically focus on it instead of your TAG or Prospector.

It is important to note that MegaBeast hunting requires more than just expertise. This activity is so extreme that it requires very specialized equipment, and neither standard sporting nor military gear will do. Top huntmasters craft or customize their own gear, adapting it to their hunting techniques and the style in which they like to kill their prey.

These hunters’ huge and extravagant weapons are without parallel in the entire Sphere, and nothing remotely similar can be found outside fantasy and action Mayaproductions. From harpoon launchers fashioned from old portable rocket launchers, and huge swords that require extra servoarms to wield, to heavy flamethrowers with a restricted arc and an intense jet, and immense hunting traps… Anything goes, because hunters love to stand out and set themselves apart, even in their hunting methods.
